Check your phone before you go.

Search verified eSIM phone models and check purchase region, EID and carrier lock. Includes official Apple, Samsung, Google and Xiaomi sources.
Check the model, region and carrier lock.
Finding your model is the first step. An EID identifies eSIM capability, but does not guarantee that every travel plan can be installed.
Search for eSIM in Settings. On iPhone, look under Cellular/Mobile Service; on Galaxy, Connections → SIM manager; on Pixel, Network & internet → SIMs.
Look for EID in About/About phone, or try dialling *#06#. If it does not appear, check the official specifications before concluding that the phone is unsupported.
On iPhone, check Carrier Lock under General → About. For other phones, ask the original carrier. Pay particular attention to contract phones, imports and company-managed devices.
Find your phone model
This list is checked against manufacturer information. It is not exhaustive or an AW-esim hardware certification. An unlisted phone may still work; check its regional version and the plan requirements before buying.
Apple iPhone
Apple lists eSIM support for iPhone XR/XS and later models, with different restrictions for some mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao versions. Check new models individually too. The official name iPhone Air does not include 17.
Samsung Galaxy
Samsung Taiwan’s current list includes S26, Z Fold8, Z Flip8 and selected A-series models. Do not assume that every Samsung phone bought in Taiwan is unsupported.
Based on Samsung’s overseas support page. Identically named phones can have different hardware or software restrictions across countries. This does not confirm every Taiwan, Hong Kong or Korean version.
Google Pixel
Google states that Pixel 4 and later support eSIM. Pixel 2/3/3a have purchase-source and regional exceptions; check Google’s guidance separately. US Pixel 10/10 Pro/10 Pro XL models do not support physical SIMs. Pixel 11 specifications are linked separately.
Xiaomi
Xiaomi 17’s Taiwan specifications list eSIM. Do not infer support for every related or Redmi model. Check the full model and purchase region.
Xiaomi 15’s Taiwan specifications list eSIM. Availability still depends on region and carrier.
Tablets and watches need a separate check.
Wi-Fi-only tablets do not have mobile network hardware. Even cellular iPad and Galaxy Tab models need individual checks for model, region and plan compatibility.
Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch cellular services generally require dedicated carrier plans. Supporting eSIM does not mean they can use a standard phone travel plan.
Check the full model and purchase region.
For OPPO, Sony, Motorola, other brands and unlisted new models, check eSIM support in the local manufacturer specifications or send the model to support.
Frequently asked questions
Are all iPhones bought in mainland China, Hong Kong or Macao unsupported?
There is no single rule for all models. Apple’s current documentation lists eSIM support for some mainland China models, with differences in Hong Kong and Macao too. Check the purchase region, exact model and local activation rules against Apple’s guidance and the phone’s settings.
Does having an EID guarantee compatibility with AW-esim?
Also check that the phone is unlocked, can add third-party eSIMs and meets the plan’s requirements. An EID alone does not guarantee compatibility with every travel plan.
Are Samsung phones bought in Taiwan unsupported?
That blanket statement no longer applies. Samsung Taiwan lists models including S26, Z Fold8 and Z Flip8. Older or imported models still need their exact model and regional version checked.
